Badges are small images that display on user profiles and profile popups that distinguish a user as a member of specific groups. Some badges can be earned by purchasing Nitro or boosting a server, while others are exclusive or no longer obtainable. On a profile, badges appear in a hierarchical order, and multiple badges stack.

Common Badges[]

These badges can be obtained for free or through subscriptions.

New badge New Server Member[]

This badge is given next to the display name of users who have been a member of a server for less than a week. When a user's server membership reaches one week, the badge is automatically removed from that user. It can also be removed by rejoining the server.

Nitro badge Nitro Subscriber[]

This badge is awarded to any user who has an active Nitro subscription on their account. Upon hovering over the badge, the date in which the user started their subscription is displayed. Once the user's Nitro subscription has expired, the badge is removed.

HypeSquad Houses[]

After taking the HypeSquad quiz in the User Settings menu, users are awarded one of three of the following badges depending on their answers to the quiz.

  • Hypesquad balance badge - HypeSquad Balance House
  • Hypesquad bravery badge - HypeSquad Bravery House
  • Hypesquad brilliance badge - HypeSquad Brilliance House

Boosting icons Server Boosting[]

These badges are awarded to users who are actively using a Server Boost on a server. The badge that appears is dependent on how long the user has been continuously boosting a single server. The length required for each badge is as follows, in the same order as the image: 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, and 24 months.

Discord updated the boost badges in October 2023.

Server Crown Badge Owner Crown[]

This badge only appears in a server's members list, instead of on the user's profile, and is awarded automatically to the user when they create the server. The intention of this badge is to help server members quickly identify who to reach out to if they need help.

To remove the badge:

  1. Go to Server Settings > Roles > Create Role.
  2. Give your role a name and adjust it if you'd like.
  3. Enable "Display role members separately from online members".
  4. Go to Permissions, scroll all the way down and enable the Administrator permissions. Then, save your changes.
  5. Go to Members, find yourself, click +, and assign the role.

This will remove the crown.
